Alan Weismantel, PT

Alan Weismantel graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Physical Therapy School in 1967. His early career included proficiency in EMG/NCV studies and the clinical use of manipulation and mobilization techniques. After extensive studies in the United States and Canada, Mr. Weismantel was the third Physical Therapist from the United States to pass the International Federation on Manual Therapy (IFOMT) Examination in 1975.

In the late 70's Mr. Weismantel was the first to sponsor Mr. Robin McKenzie on the East Coast and was one of the first McKenzie practitioners. From 1980 to 1988 he attended all courses offered for Physical Therapists at the Osteopathic School of Continuing Education at Michigan State University. On several occasions, Mr. Weismantel assisted Dr. Robert Ward in his presentations of Myofascial Release.

After studying Strain / Counterstrain under Dr. Jones, Mr. Weismantel presented courses on Counterstrain Techniques. During the 1990's he studied Visceral Mobilization Techniques taught by European Osteopaths. Mr. Weismantel is licensed in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Texas. He is a member of the A.P.T.A., Orthopedic and Sports Sections and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.

Mr. Weismantel developed a varied approach to evaluation and treatment of muscular skeletal dysfunctions. He integrates techniques learned in his 36 years of studies and clinical experiences. He has been in private practice for 25 years.


Rene Bates

Rene Bates graduated in 1993 from Old Dominion University Physical Therapy School in Norfolk Virginia 1993. In 2000 he became a Certified Manual Therapist from the Institute of Physical Therapy University of Saint Augustine and is currently enrolled in the TDPT program at the University of Saint Augustine.

Rene has twelve years of clinical experience and has developed a system of Functional Integration Exercises which are incorporated in Alan's Functional Manual Therapy Treatment sequence. The Functional Integration Exercises are heavily influenced by his Anusara Yoga experience. Rene has been mentored by Alan Weismantel as a clinical instructor for his Masters of Physical Therapy program since 1993. Rene has been an assistant instructor of Alan Weistmatel's FMT since 1998.
